There’s a certain kind of energy that exists before a surf.
Boards under arms. Sandy feet. Coffee still lingering on your breath. Women laughing as they walk toward the ocean together.
The weekend in Raglan reminded us why Wild Coast exists in the first place. Not simply for activewear or surf culture, but for the feeling that comes from being connected. To nature. To movement. To community. To yourself.
For wild coast retreats in April in Raglan, we shared waves, conversations, nervous system tools, good food, sunburnt cheeks, and the kind of laughter that makes your stomach hurt. And somewhere in amongst it all, something softened.
The ocean has a way of doing that.
What started as a surf retreat quickly became something much deeper.
Between early morning surfs, slow coffees, movement sessions, breathwork, and long conversations overlooking the sea, space was created for people to exhale. To step away from the pressure of everyday life and reconnect with themselves again.
There was no expectation to perform. No pressure to be good at surfing. No need to arrive as the “finished version” of yourself.
Just women showing up exactly as they were.
One of the most powerful parts of the weekend was witnessing the shift that happened over just a few days. Confidence grew. Nervous systems settled. Shoulders dropped. Strangers became friends.
The testimonials afterwards spoke for themselves.
The women who joined us left with more than memories from a beautiful weekend in Raglan. They left with practical tools, new experiences, deeper self-trust, and a reminder of how healing community and movement can be.
At Wild Coast, this is the kind of experience we want to continue creating.
Spaces where women can move their bodies, challenge themselves in the ocean, or on the mountains reconnect with nature, and remember that resilience is not always built through pushing harder. Sometimes it’s built through slowing down enough to actually feel alive again.
And this is only the beginning.
We’re beyond excited to now be bringing this energy to our upcoming retreat at Urban Surf Melbourne this September. A weekend designed around surfing, movement, recovery, nervous system education, connection, and adventure.
More saltwater.
More community.
More moments that remind us who we are beneath the noise.
Because sometimes the best medicine is simple:
good people, cold water, and the ocean.
